When LCL is worth comparing
Less-than-container-load shipping can suit smaller commercial replenishments that do not justify a dedicated container. Cargo moves through consolidation and deconsolidation stages, so packaging, carton identification and compatibility with other cargo matter.
Ask what cargo is acceptable, how it will be handled and which origin and destination charges apply. For food and supplements, the product’s storage requirements should be considered before selecting a shared-container service.
When FCL is worth comparing
Full-container-load shipping can suit larger volumes or cargo for which a dedicated loading arrangement is valuable. It may reduce consolidation handoffs, but it does not remove the need for robust packing, importer preparation or final-delivery coordination.
The loading pattern, pallet count, usable space and gross weight need review. A container is not automatically temperature controlled; the equipment proposal must match the manufacturer’s storage needs.

Volume and weight
Calculate volume from the finished outer dimensions. For rectangular cartons, length × width × height in metres gives cubic metres; multiply by carton count. If cargo is palletised, measure the final pallet envelope, including overhang.
LCL quotations can use weight-or-measure charging rules and minimums; FCL quotations use container and handling terms. Confirm the provider’s actual tariff and scope rather than applying a universal online threshold.
