Four preparation steps before you ship
Start with the final product, the manufacturing facility and the US receiving destination. Food and dietary supplements have product-specific import requirements; your importer and adviser should determine which apply.
| Step | Prepare | Responsible parties |
|---|---|---|
| Facility details | Manufacturer identity and applicable food facility registration records. | Manufacturer and its authorised registration contact. |
| Product and label | Ingredients, marketed product form, retail label and storage specification. | Manufacturer, brand and product adviser. |
| Importer and FSVP | Importer contact, customs broker and applicable supplier-verification arrangements. | US importer and responsible FSVP party. |
| Shipment filings | Commercial invoice, packing list, Prior Notice details and ocean security filing information. | Importer, broker and agreed filing parties. |
For packaged foods
